The Tragic Match seller

It was very cold and nearly dark on the last day of the year long, and the snow fell fast. In the cold and darkness, a poor little girl, with bare heads and bare feet, exploring the streets. It is true he was on a pair of slippers when she left home, but they are not very useful. They are very big, very big, indeed, that they had belonged to his mother, and that poor little creature had lost them in running across the street to avoid two vehicles that rolled along at a frightening rate. One of the slippers she could not find, and the boys took the other said, and fled with it, that he could use it as a cradle, when she has children of her own. So the little girl kept her little bare feet, which is quite red and blue with cold.
In an old apron, he brought a number of games, and has a beam of them in his hand. No one bought anything during the day, nor even give him one penny. Shivering with cold and hunger, she crept; poor little child, he saw a picture of suffering. Snowflakes falling on the length of her hair, fair, which depends on the curls on her shoulders, but he disregarded them.
Lights that shine from every window, and there are savory smell of roast goose, for New-years ahead - yes, he remembered that. In the corner, between two houses, one of which projected beyond the other, he sat down and huddled herself together. He has pulled slightly below the feet, but he could not withstand the cold, and she dared not go home because he had sold no matches, and could not bring home even a penny of money. His father would beat her and besides, almost as cold at home as here, because they are just a roof to cover them, where the wind howled, although the largest holes had been covered with straw and cloth.
her little hands almost frozen with cold. Ah! burning may be appropriate there may be good, if he could draw from the bundle and strike it against the wall, just to warm her fingers.
He pulled one of the - "scratch!" how stammering like burning! This gives a light, warm light, like a little candle, as she held her hand on it. This really is a beautiful light. Looks like a little girl that she was sitting with a large iron stove, with polished brass feet and brass ornaments. How the fire burning! and seemed so beautifully warm that the child stretched out his legs as if they were warm, when, lo! match flame out, the stove vanished, and he had only the remnants of half-burnt match in her hand.
He rubbed the match on the wall. That burst of fire, and where its light fell on the wall it became as transparent as a veil, and she could see into the room. The table was covered with snow-white cloth tables, which stood a good dinner service, and steaming roast goose, stuffed with apples and dried plums. And what is still more wonderful, the goose jumped down from the dish and waddled on the floor, with a knife and fork in the breast, for the little girl. Then the game came out, and still nothing except, thick damp, cold wall before her.
He lit another match, and then he found himself sitting under a beautiful Christmas tree. It's bigger and more beautifully decorated than he saw through the glass door in the rich merchant.Thousands of fire on the slope of the green branches, and colored pictures, like he saw on the show-window, looking down over all. The little one stretched out his hand toward them, and in accordance with the go out.
Christmas lights rose higher and higher, until they looked at him like a star in the sky. Then he saw a star fall, leaving it bright flash of fire. "Some people are dying," thought the little girl, because the old woman, the only person who ever loved him, and who is now dead, told me that when a star falls, the soul will come to Him.
She again rubbed the match on the walls, and light shone round her, in the brightness of his old grandmother stood clear and shining, yet mild and loving in her appearance.
"Grandmother," cried the little one, "O take me with you, I know you will go when the match burns out, you will vanish like the warm stove, roast goose, and a large, glorious Christmas-tree."
And she made haste to light the entire file match, because he wanted to keep her grandmother there. And fits with the bright light shining than the day, and her grandmother had never appeared so large or so beautiful. She took the little girl in his arms, and they both flew upwards in brightness and joy far above the earth, where there is not cold or hungry or sick, because they are with God.
At the dawn of the morning lying on the poor small, with pale cheeks and smiling mouth, leaning against the wall, she had frozen to death on the last night of that year, and new-year sun rose and shone upon a little corpse! The child still sat, in the stiffness of death, holding lighters in hand, one bundle being burned.
"He tried to warm herself," said some.
No one imagined the wonderful things he saw, or into what glory she had entered with her grandmother, on the day of the new-year.

Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to marry a princess; but she would have to be a real princess. He travelled all over the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to have a real princess. …..
It was terribly cold and nearly dark on the last evening of the old year, and the snow was falling fast. In the cold and the darkness, a poor little girl, with bare head and naked feet, roamed through the streets. It is true she had on a pair of slippers when she left home, but they were not of much use. So the little girl went on with her little naked feet, which were quite red and blue with the cold.….
Many, many years ago lived an emperor, who thought so much of new clothes that he spent all his money in order to obtain them; his only ambition was to be always well dressed. He did not care for his soldiers, and the theatre did not amuse him; the only thing, in fact, he thought anything of was to drive out and show a new suit of clothes. He had a coat for every hour of the day; and as one would say of a king "He is in his cabinet," so one could say of him, "The emperor is in his dressing-room."
"Maybe they're like the orfolei. You know, a carbon-based intelligence that goes through a meat stage." "Nope. They're born meat and they die meat. We studied them for several of their life spans, which didn't take long. Do you have any idea what's the life span of meat?" …
The Wolf, however, did truly come at last. The Shepherd-boy, now really alarmed, shouted in an agony of terror: "Pray, do come and help me; the Wolf is killing the sheep"; but no one paid any heed to his cries, nor rendered any assistance. The Wolf, having no cause of fear, at his leisure lacerated or destroyed the whole flock.
Just then, Marty's mother came out to bring Marty's dad his tea. She patted her belly and smiled. "We're going to have another baby," his mother said."And that means you're going to be a big brother," his father said…
